Mother’s Day

For all the mothers out there I would like to all of you to read this. Whether you are a young mother or and old one this is my way of saying thank you. This is a very dear post to me and it's about my mother. As it is mother's day, I would like to take a few moments to thank my mother for who she is and what she has done for my life. I am very grateful for the roles she has played in my life as she has been everything to me.

I want to thank my mother for being my nurse. There were plenty of times I had fallen sick or I had injured myself and she took great care of me. There was a time when I was a kid I had fallen sick in the middle of the night. I went to my parents' room to tell her am not feeling well. If memory serves me well, I think I had contracted malaria. I had headaches, fever and I was vomiting. Being the amazing caregiver that she is she woke up and stayed up with me the whole night. She hardly slept that night and to make matters worse she had to go to work in the morning. Throughout the day she kept calling our house help to see how I was doing. At the time I took it for granted but in hindsight I am very grateful for her care

My mom is an excellent chef, everyone says their moms are the best cooks but I can say certainly that my mom is the best, bestest if that was a word. She is amazing in the kitchen and she can make wonders with little ingredients that are there. She is very creative with the ingredients and she could put any professional chef to shame with her style of cooking. She makes simple things look great and very tasty. I have tried plenty of times to emulate her but I am not as good as her when it comes to using posts and pans.

My mom is a great psychologist. She listens to my problems with an empathetic ear and she tries to understand where I am coming from. She waits for me to talk and then she gives me great advice. Many of the problems that I face, I normally call her and ask for her guidance. There was a time last year when I was struggling with an issue and without her help I wouldn't have been able to go through it. When I told her my problem, she was patient, attentive and when she spoke I was impressed with how she made me look at the problem. Which made it easier for me to solve it.

She has been my bank. I used to love going to her for money. The money was for random things but she was always there to give it to me at zero percent interest. I had to do a couple of chores here and there but she gave me the money without expecting any accountability. Those were good days.

How did you thank your mother on mothers day?

  1. What a lovely tribute to your mom. I've been quite busy with a lot of things this month, but I am spending some time today catching up with blog posts I have missed. I am glad I looked back and found this!
