Patience

According to Wikipedia patience is defined as is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without acting on annoyance/anger in a negative way; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties. Patience is the level of endurance one can take before negativity. It is also used to refer to the character trait of being steadfast.

Those words make a lot of sense when you as an individual are not going through the test of patience. They are words you can live with and in fact give advice to another person. When the time comes when you are to be tested those words lose all its meaning. They become foreign to you and make no sense. Terms like perseverance, delay, wait it out and chill have no place in your dictionary. Especially when you want your answer to your problem right now.

I think this year, this is the umpteenth time that I am learning about patience. This point in my life where I have to wait on someone else's decision to see whether I can move forward to the next level. I must admit the first two times I was tested on this trait I failed miserably and lost my patience. I was told to wait a couple of weeks, which turned to a couple of months and I lost my cool. At the end of the wait I was so exhausted, my nerves were heightened, my heart tired and I was like I don't care any longer. Whatever happens, happens.

That was in the past though, now I can ride that patience wave. I have no problem being still and waiting for an answer. The answer itself doesn't have to come today, it can come tomorrow, next week or next month. I am at peace. The reason I can be patient is because of my past experiences. My past failings have taught me lessons on patience. I now know the value of being in such a position for waiting on others or situations to change and the benefits I can get for being patient.

Do you have problems on being patient with life?

  1. It is definitely tough to be patient! I try to put the issue out of my mind as much as possible when waiting for an answer.
