So apparently Google Adwords decided to make me a partner. Let me first explain what it means to be a Google Partner, A
Google partner, what I think, is someone the search engine giant has seen knows
what he or she is going with their products and can be used to give advice to
those who don’t know how to use the same products. With that I am a Google
AdWords partner meaning I know my Sh!t about Google Adwords.

For those who don’t know to be an AdWords partner you have
to do 3 things, the first you have to pass two exams; secondly, you have to
spend over $10k and lastly you must be performing proficiently. Needless to say
I killed it in all those categories.

So I was thinking to make this blogpost humble and go like
yeah it was a lot of hard work and the powers that be decided to make me an
official partner and all that BS. But that wont be me and it wont be my blog so
here I go.

It was about time I got my Partnership status, I have been
working on this platform for 3 months helping people all over the world
advertise their products on the Google search engine. I don’t know the number
of partners there are out there in the world but I can tell you I am one of the
few in Nairobi, Kenya, Africa and the world…. I digress.

I am finally part of the club so watch out…. Here I come.

It's been a long 10 months and the football season is over, I am talking about the premier league of course where my team- Manchester united- had a few lows and a few highs. The few lows were a big improvement from the 2013-2014 season where our team was really really bad and we were glad to bounce back. At the end of the season we managed to finish 4th where we were 8th on the previous year and there is a lot to learn from the season. I tried to watch as many games as I could over the season and I think I only missed 5 games.

I really like our new coach Louis Van Gaal, LVG he came with his new style of football and I honestly think it improved how we play. He came from a high, taking the Dutch team to third place in the world cup finals so we all assumed that his coming to United will mean that there will be a big improvement to the team. Sadly he wasn't the messiah we were looking for and it will take some time for him to stamp his authority on our team. I would love him to stay on for as long as possible due to his coaching style. The only thing I would advise him if I could talk to him is that he should ignore the press, those guys will eat you alive.

With a new coach he was given £ 150 mille to build his team and he dived right into the market and got us an angel. Angel Di Maria came to united after the club spent £ 60 mille on him. At the beginning of the season he was playing really well but the coach kept on switching his position and he found it hard to keep his first team place. His impact was not felt that much but I am sure the longer he stays the better he will make united. Other players came in who turned out to be a welcomed surprise, Daley Blind, Marcus Rojo, Radamel Falcao, and Anders Herrera. The players were all good apart from Falcao, I think he wasn't good enough with our style of play and I was not surprised to hear that they will not renew his contract.

Players who surprised me this season with their excellent play were Fellaini, Degea and Daley Blind. Fellaini has turned out to be the go to man to make united win. When he was brought on with our previous manager he did poorly but he has grown to his role in our first team. He has come alive in our team and he has made me like him. David Degea was the best player in our team without a doubt. Without him we would have suffered a lot because he is an outstanding goal keeper who at a young age is very mature. Sad to say he might leave and go to Madrid I wish he would stay – please stay. I love how Blind plays, he is a great defender and attacker all combined. I am glad he there in our mid field. Other players of note this season were Ashley Young, Micheal Carrick and Juan Mata.

With the upcoming four month break, I am looking forward to see which players will be coming to our team and the ones who will be leaving. I would prefer faster players to complement the way Di Maria and stronger defenders to help our back four. In addition I would like to see more fan support for our coach and he should be left alone to do his job. I want to see more of the youth team playing in the first team and more of Jazunaj.

In other news I finished 11th in my fantasy league with 1794 points and the guy who was first had 2016 am coming for him next season.
Which team do you support and how did they play this season?

I am a big fan of anything that has humour. You have been reading my blog for over half a year and I am sure you know that I have a sense of humour. Right? So naturally I gravitate towards anything that is funny. When I have free time I love watching funny stuff: movies series, YouTube videos and stand-up comedy. As the title suggests I love stand-up comedy and I am in heaven when I get a new show. I am thoroughly impressed with the comics who come up on stage and start telling their jokes. It amazes me how some of them start telling ordinary stories about their lives and they turn out to very hilarious. Not all comics are the same, there are some who like in everything are really good and the others are just ordinary. My favourite ones of course are the really funny ones. Here are my favourite stand-up comics
Richard Pryor
He is my favourite all time comedian. This guy is old school, if you don't know he was born in 1940 and died in 2005. His best work was in the 80s where he had these two shows "Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip" and "Wanted: Live in Concert". What I like most about his style of comedy is that he animates everything – he can be talking about animals and the animals have voices and personalities and you can follow the conversation which is really funny. I love how this guy is funny 30 years later after realising his greatest works (according to me). Here is a clip of him on boxing- if the video is not there its coz of YouTube.

Chris rock
This is a guy I fully respect and love. His sense of humour is intelligent whereby he makes you laugh and at the same time he makes you think about what he is talking about. I have watched all of his stuff that is available and I am always impressed with the way he talks about issues that are affecting his environment. I started watching stand-up comedies because of him because after watching a five minute clip of him I was hooked on to this genre. My favourite pieces of his work are "Bigger & Blacker" and "Never Scared" I have watched this stuff over and over again and I still laugh at the jokes. Here is a clip about toss the salad guy,

Kevin hart
This is the only guy I know who has made stand-up comedy mainstream. He has made the most money on shows by properly marketing his work. It took him a long time to get on the stage but it was worth the wait I find him to be really really funny. I still can't believe this guy is that short and he makes his humour work for him when he jokes about his height. His best work was his earlier stuff, I guess it was when he was hungry, right now he is funny but you will agree with me he isn't that funny. Here is a clip on adventure with an ostrich.

Trevor Noah
How do I describe Trevor? He is one of the funniest comedian or the funniest guy that came out of South Africa. This guy is so good that he will be replacing John Stewart on the Daily show. I mean there are funny guys in the US but for him to come from SA and take over in the US market you have to give him props. Here is my funniest clip of him – the Oprah joke

I heard one comic says the reason some of them are so good is because they have experienced so much pain in life and they have turned it to a humourus story. I don't know if it is true but I just put it there for you. Who is your funniest comic?
A few weeks I had travelled to a village in Machakos called Kabaa with a couple of friends. I was meant to write this weeks ago but life happened and many more interesting blog posts came to me and I wrote the hell out of them. Now that life has somehow relaxed I can focus on the things I was meant to post about. So like I was saying I was Kabaa, I had taken my friend to go see some plots of land because she would like to do some farming and she wanted to get acquainted with the property she was going to use. That went all great coz we had a specialist farmer who gave her advice. It was weird how much that guy was a professional and I am the one with the Agriculture degree and he was talking with so much intelligence and authority on the field. But back to my story.

The Main Kitchen

At lunch time it was suggested that we eat at that place in one of the local restaurants. At first I was like against it because I knew Nairobi is 2 hours away and we can drive back and have a proper meal but since I was outnumbered I was like bring it. If you have been to a restaurant in a rural village you will understand my trepidation because hygiene, courtesy and good food go out the window in such places.

When we got there the food had already been pre-ordered, someone had called in advance telling them about our arrival. When we sat down we were served immediately. At first I was like "what? Dial up service in Kabaa who would have thunk it?" Everyone else we were with was cool about it so I also pretended it's something I do every time I go there. "I mean don't you make a reservation before you get into a restaurant?" We sat on a table which sat 8 people, on one side there were plastic chairs on the other side was a bench to sit on. It had its own rustic thatched roof. I really want to make fun of it but it was oddly comfortable and very rustic. Then came the food.

Rice

I knew this is when s**t gets real. We had ordered rice, stewed meat and a bit of barbecue meat and a cup of stew. Let me stress that a cup of stew, in that when they made the stewed meat they filled several cups with the stew from the meat and we were given 8 cups of it. I knew here it was going to be very tricky but since everyone is eating I would have to man up and eat as well. I was wonderfully surprised that the food was really really good. They had cooked the food using firewood and it didn't have that smoky taste. The rice was well seasoned and the meat was a delight. I felt guilty thinking that the food was going to be bad.

Cups of stew

I haven't talked about the barbecue meat cause that was just bad. It was the fat of the cow on bone then it was dry roasted. I ate a few pieces of it and I never went for seconds. That restaurant is really nice. If you are to go to Kabaa and you are looking for a place to it go to this restaurant City Café and Butchery the food there is good. The only directions I can give you to the place is when you are driving to Kabaa and where the tarmac road ends that is where the restaurant is.

Its time I told you guys about my lifelong dream to be an evil villain. I have watched how other people are making as evil villains and its time I took active steps to get to my purpose to be one. Insert evil laughter. I have watched several movies, read a couple of books and comics and I know how I will be a great villain. I have seen where they have fallen short to conquer the world and from their mistakes I will learn from them to be more effective. These are the mistakes evil villains make:
Falling in love
I believe in love, butterflies and unicorns but being an evil guy there is no time for love. We are here to dominate and punish the lesser creatures making us very successful. I don't know why the bad guys start falling in love. Look at Hannibal Lector, a great bad guy, a man after my own heart but he falls in love with Clarice. Why? He had everything covered, he was suave, sophisticated clever and manipulate his opponents. He was good at his job but I still don't understand how and why he fell in love. The other problem I had with him is his diet but I think he was cool as bad guy. I am not falling in love

Evil laugh
I don't know why we as evil people have to burst out in evil maniacal laughter. Sometimes we don't even tell a joke and we start laughing. "We will rule the world hahahahahhaaha." I think the laugh is too cliché and I am going to change it. Also laughing like that is exhausting you need to practise and practise to get the right tone and pitch that makes you happy and instils fear on your weaker enemies. I am not going to laugh maybe smile – evil smile.

Getting rid of weaknesses
If I knew there is only one thing that can destroy me I am going to take it and hide it from the rest of the world. Look at Sauron from Lord of the rings. He came up with one ring to rule them all and he didn't take any precautions after that. After making the ring in the fires of mount doom, I am going to close that place up. The main entrance will be bared, the lava would stop flowing and I will ensure the hero doesn't have any access to it. Keeping me immortal for the rest of my reign.

Telling my plan
I don't know why villains feel that they should devolve their plans to the hero. If I am going to rule this world and I have a sure foot plan I will not be devolving that information to anyone. I won't take my time to explain my elaborate plan for destroying the hero and how I will rule the world. No that secret is going with me and just in case I don't make it work I will have the luxury of knowing no one knows my failure.

Lastly I want serious Henchmen
Have you ever noticed how the henchmen of bad guys have a poor aim? Remember all those chuck Norris movies where he would be shot at by hundreds of guys and they would all miss. I would be like "what the hell dudes? Kill him already!!!!" so when I am recruiting henchmen and minions to work for me there will be a serious interview about working for me and as a minimum they should be able to aim. Even when they fight with the hero I don't know why they go after him one at a time. They should rush the hero and overwhelm him. Ensuring our success.

What will you do to be a successful villain?

I love reading the bible, it is my all-time favourite book. The book has been around for over 2000 years and people have been drawing out different meanings from it from the onset. Over the years the different integrations have turned out to be assumptions that are true until you would hear how a scholar interprets the texts. I do love it when I hear bible scholars break down verses and explain the real meaning of what is being said rather than what I assumed. I sometimes wish I was able to read the bible as the scholars are able to. I would love to go to a seminary or divinity school so that I could deeply understand the bible.

I had many certain assumptions when I read the bible and just to find out later I was wrong about them. For example here is one of the assumptions I had about the bible verses I thought the guy who had many demons – legion was a Jew. In Mark 5:1-20 it talks about crossing the lake and going to exorcise the guy who was possessed. From my understanding most of the work Jesus did was only for the Jews until I learnt that the guy was not Jewish because he used to live in a cemetery and he was pig herder. Jews can't be pig herders because they consider pigs to be unclean.

Another assumption I had about the bible is that I would forget God knew how things would turn out in the end. I would read each story in the bible with eager anticipation trying to find out what will happen next. I would read how different characters would pray and wait for a miracle. The prayers were deep and they were about to give up and God comes through for them. My assumption was it was because of the prayers they did, but in reality it was all God's plan. I am assuming that it took them by surprise when God answered them but in reality it was all in the works.

Another assumptions I had in the Old Testament is that angels were the ones who were visiting people. I have come to learn that in those instances it was Jesus who was popping in and out in the lives of the people. So the guy who Jacob fought in Genesis was Jesus. It's been Jesus all this time especially when the text doesn't allude to the name of the being that has visited the people to bless them. My last assumption is that the book of Mark was written by Apostle Mark, one of the twelve disciples. Apparently it was written by John Mark, with no better explanation I would say the other guy.

Did you have any assumptions from the bible?

For all the mothers out there I would like to all of you to read this. Whether you are a young mother or and old one this is my way of saying thank you. This is a very dear post to me and it's about my mother. As it is mother's day, I would like to take a few moments to thank my mother for who she is and what she has done for my life. I am very grateful for the roles she has played in my life as she has been everything to me.

I want to thank my mother for being my nurse. There were plenty of times I had fallen sick or I had injured myself and she took great care of me. There was a time when I was a kid I had fallen sick in the middle of the night. I went to my parents' room to tell her am not feeling well. If memory serves me well, I think I had contracted malaria. I had headaches, fever and I was vomiting. Being the amazing caregiver that she is she woke up and stayed up with me the whole night. She hardly slept that night and to make matters worse she had to go to work in the morning. Throughout the day she kept calling our house help to see how I was doing. At the time I took it for granted but in hindsight I am very grateful for her care

My mom is an excellent chef, everyone says their moms are the best cooks but I can say certainly that my mom is the best, bestest if that was a word. She is amazing in the kitchen and she can make wonders with little ingredients that are there. She is very creative with the ingredients and she could put any professional chef to shame with her style of cooking. She makes simple things look great and very tasty. I have tried plenty of times to emulate her but I am not as good as her when it comes to using posts and pans.

My mom is a great psychologist. She listens to my problems with an empathetic ear and she tries to understand where I am coming from. She waits for me to talk and then she gives me great advice. Many of the problems that I face, I normally call her and ask for her guidance. There was a time last year when I was struggling with an issue and without her help I wouldn't have been able to go through it. When I told her my problem, she was patient, attentive and when she spoke I was impressed with how she made me look at the problem. Which made it easier for me to solve it.

She has been my bank. I used to love going to her for money. The money was for random things but she was always there to give it to me at zero percent interest. I had to do a couple of chores here and there but she gave me the money without expecting any accountability. Those were good days.

How did you thank your mother on mothers day?

This small white man who smiles over the city doesn't know how much grief he gives us. First of all let me give you the stats about monopoly then I can talk about the real monopoly. It's owned by Hasbro, 275 million games have been sold so far, in 111 countries; the longest game lasted for 70 straight days; most expensive board costs $ 2 mille; the guy in jail is called Jake the jailbird and the cop is officer Edgar Mallory; 6 billion houses and 2.25 hotels have been erected since 1935. And now back to the game that I know…

When we play we prefer to have 4 players. There can be 5 or 6 players, the more the merrier, but we don't do it with 3 players. This is because one player can easily dominate the game if there are only three players. It's all fun and games rolling the dice trying to see which of the players can amass as much property as possible until the last property is bought. That is when S**t gets real.

It stops being monopoly and becomes the Game Of Thrones. And whoever plays the Game Of Thrones either lives or die. Like the TV series in every game, assuming there are four players, there is always Cersei- the one who think they have power; Tyrion – the tricky/wise one; Twyin –the one with the most property; and Rob- the one who has nothing but heart. Additional players can be little finger who steals money from the bank and Varys who corrupts the game by killing all the deals.

Cersei's in the game is the character I rarely play as this person is normally the idiot, ok that is too harsh but the one who doesn't know the right decision to make. Especially when people are baying for blood and she is put under pressure. Cersei is the one who is new to the game; has been oblivious to what is going on; is dead set on owning a certain piece of property. She is the one who makes other players cringe when they do or don't make a decision until guys go like ok then, lets all not deal then. This person thinks they have all the power but in the end it turns out its not hers to begin with.

I play this game a lot and I have been all these characters but the role I love to play is Tyrion. I always wait for people to trade cards and make deals while at the same time plot to see how I can make the odds to my favour. Or alternatively I deal with people quickly under the table before people know what is going on, don't guys hate that. One of the reasons I am able to do this comfortable is because I always know who holds which card from the beginning of the game as such I am able to know who I will be dealing with and which player is the deal breaker or maker. With this knowledge I rule the iron throne, I mean board, insert evil maniacal laughter.

Twyin is the guy who holds the most property just before the time to deal begins. I hate being this guy because you become greedy and you want to own the whole board or three quarters of it. I have to say that sometimes it works out but usually it normally backfires and is the person who ends up with a bitter taste in their mouth or a quarrel in their gut. The best part about being him is that everyone has to work with you and you can control the game and you can see what deals are being made and how the tide of the game will change.

Rob is my favourite to play. Because this guy has nothing to lose. He owns a piece of property here and there but of no consequence. He can't make any deals and the most he can do is buy property from the rest at exorbitant prices. But rob plays with heart, and I always say "GO HARD OR GO HOME." In some cases he out lives the rest but sadly he rarely wins.

Varys and little finger are all fun if they are in the game as they make it more interesting. I would like to say I am ethical but there are occasions where I was both of them, stealing money from the bank as well stopping all the deals by giving out bad advice.

Monopoly can be good clean fun for some guys who just want to spend time and have a good time. From my experience it's never clean or fun, we talk badly about each other; abuse each other; and you viciously celebrate when one goes out of the game. My favourite people to play with are extremely competitive and wise guys who make great decisions. The ones who feel the pain of losing and you can rub the salt in their wounds. When am free and with the right quorum I can spend hours playing monopoly.

Do you play board games? I am going to end this post with this…
I got this from Lisi Ledbetter from http://elmoknowsitall.blogspot.com/ and I found it to be really amazing. Not very many people are able to go like ok we are all un cool and in fact we are normal. Personally I am one of the guys who is too big for life and I normally portray myself as being super cool or Ice cold as Andre from outkast would say it. After reading her post #wearealluncool I decided to let a bit of honesty in this blog of mine. I am a human being and most of the things I do, see are super boring and mundane. There are times that something amazing happens but sad to say that I have no control over it and I am a passenger to the event.

In keeping with the theme of #WeAreAllUncool and the Instagram handle is @WeAreAllUncool. I am going to talk about a couple of my flaws and yes I do know I have many of them.

I lie. I know I lie and I don't think I do it too much, like a pathological liar but I think it's a decent amount of lies. I mean honestly all the stories I tell are very funny and interesting and that is due to the part that they are 50% lies. Trust me the truth is not that interesting and if it was, it's going to be a really short conversation. So I add a little bit of titbits here and there to keep the conversation going and entertaining.

I fixate on the past. I really wish I didn't do this but I find myself reliving past events especially on hurtful ones. I find myself thinking about my failures past relationships and keep thinking what if things didn't turn out the way they did. I forget that living means being in the present and I should forget all the things that have happened.

I find humour in the weirdest thing. I could be facing a tragedy but I would still be able to joke about it. I was once told it's a self defence mechanism and if it is well and good coz however bad things are there is a joke to be told. That is why I don't attend funerals, I always end up saying the wrong things.

I tried looking for an uncool picture of me but I couldn't get one…. Another lie.

My title should have been my favourite apps so far, coz the apps I used to use a lot I hardly use them at all. Facebook on android sucks and it doesn't have what it used to have, that wow factor. KIK and viber are other apps that lost their way and I don't find them interesting at all. Back to my favourite apps, when I am on my tablet I am usually on twitter, kindle Pinterest, stumbleupon blog Inc. and IMDB; I have new apps installed that I go to more than the ones I have mentioned. They are tinder, flikr and Imgur.

Tinder is an online dating app, which is a lot of fun and easy to use. I was very wary of online dating websites and services because… well just because. But a friend of mine told me of all the women he has been getting on tinder I had to get it. True to his word its really easy getting women, all you have to do is like someone on it and if they like you back you can start a conversation and that is one foot through the door. From my experience I made a couple of mistakes, no. 1 being I never used to take the girls' phone numbers and the conversation would end without me getting any head way. Also I found that so many of the people "who are beautiful from the inside" were the only ones friending me back which is weird coz I am damn hot. My advice is if you are a girl or boy get on tinder it makes hooking up so easy.

Imgur is an app that shares viral photos, videos and gifs. First of all I still don't know how to pronounce it imgur, imgur, imgur. The guys who come up with these names, from the official site the pronunciation is image-er/im-ij-er. This is a really cool app, and if you are looking for what is hot on the net this is the place to be. I normally visit the app for the hilarious stuff they have on and I find I have spent an hour or more just scrolling through the images.

Lastly there is flikr, I think this is my all-time favourite app coz I get to see lots and lots of photos of different places which I add to my bucket list. The people I follow on flikr are mostly travellers and I love seeing where they have been and what made them take a certain photo. There are incredible photos of Alaska, sunrises and sets and one or two selfies. I normally drool over the photos that are there.

Other notable applications that I should talk about that I have and use are YouTube, airbnb crowd fire, UB reader hotel search and series guide. What apps do you use most often?

This past month I have had the luxury of hanging out with my seven year old nephew. He comes over every morning and we hangout for the better part of the day and he leaves. Sometimes he gets bored early and leaves me or he finds a couple of his age mates and goes to have fun. Hanging out with him is a lot of fun because somewhere along the way I think we as adults forgot how to have an adulterated fun and he reminds of it. Every small thing makes him genuinely happy and I love his outlook on life.

There are a lot of pleasures of hanging out with him and one of the things that I he does is he reminds me of my short comings. I am not going to talk about my many flaws over here but the thing he painfully reminds me is that how limited my vocabulary is. When we sit down, mostly me and he runs around me, he stops and asks me such a simple question and I am unable to answer him eloquently. Let me give you an example, the other day he asked me what is the meaning of the word option.

I was literally tongue tied, I kept on using the word option to explain what it means. Realizing I was going nowhere I decided to use another word to help me out in this predicament. I went like an option is a choice between two or more items. As soon as I said it I realized I had made a mistake because I now hard to explain what a choice is as well as an item. After several minutes of dancing around words and switching languages I think I was able to explain what a choice or an option is. I don't think I got to item and I don't think he remembers either so I am going to count that as a win.

I was told to complete understand something you should be able to explain it as if you are talking to a child. Now I have this child with me, and I claim to understand a lot. The irony comes in when I am not able to do explain it. I am so used to using big words, and they fail me all the time especially since I am speaking to this little one. I end up spending time thinking about small words to aid me with the conversation and it turns out to be very challenging.

With that challenge it has become a game to me, and I wait for my ever curious nephew to ask me a question and I try to explain it to him so that he can understand it as well as I do. Sadly to say there some questions I cant properly answer- where do babies come from? And I don't know how to explain it keeping the conversation rated PG or G. although I still love explaining stuff to him and when he gets it result!!!!

Do you have problems explain stuff to kids the way I do?
I don't really do fashion posts but there are times when I see how someone dresses and I go like this should be on my post to acknowledge their style and their sense of fashion. Many people out there don't think much about their looks or they dress just appropriately for their positions but there are those few who I admire who take it a notch up and bring their A game to the table. These are the guys who wear a uniform like the rest of the co-workers but to set them apart they rock some sick watch, beautiful shoes or go crazy and wear a fly scarf. So this post is dedicated to those who take an extra minute to dress above and beyond the call of duty. I hope this doesn't sound like a soundbite on E.

In football the last thing you would expect people to talk about is fashion sense. I would agree to some extent that we don't get to see much of it on the players during the games unless one looks at the hairstyles they have on. Then again we also have to agree they are wearing a uniform so there is limited opportunity to show off their style. Off the pitch is a different story that is when you get to see how well they can dress and give them their dues. With this post I want to focus on the football managers as they have free reign on what they wear.

As I have watched football for many years I would say that I am an authority on all things vanity about it and I can say these three are the best dressed managers in the game right now.
This post is way overdue but its better late than never. I would like to take this opportunity to tell my brothers and sisters in Nepal that we are so sorry that you went through an earth quake. It was nobody's fault that what happened happened but we can only sympathise with you and tell you that you are in our prayers.

I have seen a couple of photos of destroyed buildings, roads torn apart and people who have lost loved ones. Each image brings you the full realization that we are human and God has the final say. I am sure that morning guys woke thinking about other problems, this bill to pay, about a mean friend or just glad about the day. Then at a certain hour an earthquake occurred and without notice their lives were thrown in complete disarray. I wouldn't know how to deal with the situation and I don't think there are any experts in suffering but I feel for you guys in the situation. While you suffer through this tragedy just know that you aren't alone, we are one big family.

Maybe in 10 years' time you will be able to look back to this event and go like I am glad that it happened that way. If that didn't happen I wouldn't be able to have this or that. Sadly to say that it's not 10 years later its now and the wounds are still fresh. And to that I am really sorry
Yesterday, 17th March 2015 was St. Patrick's Day. I have been looking at the celebrations online and I really wished I was there. I mean look at all the fun people were having, wearing green, drinking lots of alcohol and celebrating Patrick. If I had it my way I would love to be in Ireland, in the heart of the city to be with the revellers to understand why on in this auspicious occasion we are celebrating a saint by getting really really drunk. It got me thinking which other festivals I would love to attend this year if I had the opportunity.

Taiwan Lantern Festival

This festival has already passed but I have always wanted to go to one. Maybe I will make it for next year's festival. During the Taiwan Lantern Festival, thousands of sky lanterns light over Pingxi District in Taiwan and in Yanshui District, there is a firecrackers ceremony of Wumiao Temple. Fireworks Display ("beehive of fireworks") was originally celebrated to ward off evil and disease from the town. The Sky Lanterns were released originally to let others know that the town was safe.

La Tomatina

Is a festival that is held in the Valencian town of Buñol, a town located 30 km / 19 miles from the Mediterranean, in which participants throw tomatoes and get involved in this tomato fight purely for fun. It is held on the last Wednesday of August, during the week of festivities of Buñol. At around 10 a.m., festivities begin with the first event of the Tomatina. It is the "palo jabón", similar to the greasy pole. The goal is to climb a greased pole with pork on top. As this happens, the crowd works into a frenzy of singing and dancing and gets showered in water from hoses. Once someone is able to drop the pork off the pole, the start signal for the tomato fight is given by firing the water shot in the air and trucks make their entry. The signal for the onset is at about 11 when a loud shot rings out, and the chaos begins. This event is held in August
Oktoberfest

It is a 16-day festival running from late September to the first weekend in October with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year. Locally, it is often simply called Wiesn, after the colloquial name of the fairgrounds themselves. The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, having been held since 1810.
Running of the Bulls

Is a practice that involves running in front of a small group of cattle, typically six, of the toro bravo breed that have been let loose on a course of a sectioned-off subset of a town's streets. The most famous running of the bulls is that of the eight-day festival of Sanfermines in honour of Saint Fermin in Pamplona, although they are held in towns and villages across Spain, Portugal, in some cities in Mexico, in San José Festival held in Trujillo, Peru, Mesquite, Nevada, southern France during the summer. Before the running of the bulls, a set of wooden or iron barricades is erected to direct the bulls along the route and to block off side streets. There may be a double row of barricades along the route to allow runners to quickly exit in case of danger. The gaps in the barricades are wide enough for a human to slip through, but narrow enough to block a bull.
Is an annual international arts festival during the season of the midnight sun. The White Nights Festival consists of a series of classical ballet, opera and music events and includes performances by Russian dancers, singers, musicians and actors, as well as famous international guest stars. The Scarlet Sails celebration is the culmination of the White Nights season, the largest public event anywhere in Russia with the annual estimated attendance about one million people, most of whom are students from thousands of schools and colleges, both local and international.

About a week ago many high school students got the results for the exam they wrote last year. I should mention that here in Kenya, Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education is very important and it determines the future of many students. Like every other major exam that is taken every year, there are a couple of people who were very excited and were proud of their achievements while there are those on the other end of the spectrum.

In the past, passing or failing was a really big thing but now it's not so much so. Let me explain when I wrote my exam in 2001, it's been that long, you had to get an A for you to do any professional course like medicine, law, accounting engineering and many others. Anyone else who got less than that were either thrown to various fields of science and art without regards to what the students wants to study or not. The students who managed to get Cs that is C plus or minus had it even tougher because that meant they were only eligible to join colleges or polytechnic colleges. It wasn't doom and gloom for the ones who had money as they were ways of dancing around the education system and found your way to the course you want to do… I am talking about parallel university learning. This is whereby students who couldn't meet the grade requirement for a certain course would pay extra tuition in order to study for the course.

As you can imagine if you didn't have money that meant that your options were severely limited. The great thing about today is that things have changed dramatically. The final grade of what you get in high school doesn't count as much as it did in the past. This is due to the fact that there are so many universities that have been opened around the country and many colleges have been upgraded to university and the requirements to do certain courses are much lower. For example going to certain universities to get a bachelor in commerce would require you to have an A or A minus but in other universities the requirements aren't so high in that you can do the same course is a plain C.

Another thing you should remember is that whatever you study for doesn't mean you will work in that area. When I attended university I had this assumption that you have to get a job in your specific field of study but experience has taught me otherwise. You can study for one degree or diploma and you will find yourself working in a totally different field. If you are reading this and you find yourself in the not so favourable position due to your exam results don't lose hope as there are ways of you achieving your dream career. Some ways might take longer but in the end you will get there.

Congratulations to all those who passed and for those who didn't do so well its not the end of the world you just need to look for other options. Were you satisfied with your exam results whenever you wrote them?
I have to share this band with you guys coz this group is amazing. I never knew I liked acapella music until I listened to this group. This band is called Pentatonix and it's a group of 5 friends namely Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldanodo, Avi Kaplan, and Kevin Olusola originating from Arlington, Texas. All the band members if it's a band, can sing like hell and they have their own take on pop songs. I was really impressed with how their own version of the songs are really cool. Here are some of a couple of my favourite Pentatonix songs I hope you enjoy…

I know it's a bit late to talk about what I did during the weekend but other things came up. Now that nothing is going on I can blog about what activities that occurred during the said dates, the following took place between Friday to Sunday (24 Voice). Friday evening was cool, it was my dad's birthday and we had a special dinner for him, he turned 64 years. My mom made the food and asked my brother and sister to come with their families and we had a lot fun. We did get to sing for him the birthday song so as to ask him "how old are you now?" and he was proud and shouted "64!" Come to think of it I think I am finally half his age. So kudos for the both of us. The dinner lasted for a couple of hours then I went out with my girls to a local pub. There I had a little too much of Jameson but he didn't ask me to do silly stuff. I can finally handle my liquor.

The next day was my friend's wedding it was so out of town, it took us two hours to get to the venue. I was wondering why they had decided to take it so far away but when I got there I realized why they chose the place. The place was beautiful, the arrangement was lovely and the ceremony was perfect. I didn't actually get to see the vows part coz we got there … fashionably late or very late but we made it for the reception. I really do love how women dress for such occasions. It's like a marketing gimmick showing you there potential, it's sexy + casual and many of the girls who were there were looking hot. I am an "ass" guy and the girls who were there had plenty of it – heaven for me. I went to the wedding with the girls I was with the previous night. We skipped the evening party because of its location and driving back in the middle of the night is not advisable. We went to my friends place just to watch 50 shades of grey.

I haven't read the books to be honest but the movie was very very poor. I have little knowledge of domination and BDSM I think I will have to look into that. My friends struggled to watch the movie because I kept talking over it with other guys and they weren't amused. After kicking it for a couple of hours I went home to sleep. Then randomly my neighbour came knocking my door at 2 am and we ended up going back to the club. It was a bit of surprise coz I didn't plan on doing anything. I still had plenty of energy in me so I went out hoping to look for some tail. But alas there was no tail to be bagged.

On Sunday evening I was meant to do a presentation for the Rotman Problem Solving Challenge. I don't know if I have talked about this in the past, if not then its coz I don't know the implications of doing so and that is why I am putting this as a footnote. For the challenge I was meant to write an essay on the added value of wearable technology in education. I wrote a good enough paper to get me to the second round for the presentation phase. The presentation was done via skype and it was very relaxed, the guy on the other side of the computer was cool to talk to and I think I made a favourable impression. I am hoping to go through to the final round of the completion. If that happens I could be in Toronto at the end of the month wooohooo. Anyways news about that will follow.

What did you get up to for the weekend?

I got this news over the weekend and it surprised me a lot. In one of the dailies it said that 40% of Kenyans live under extreme poverty meaning 18 million Kenyans are not suffering but they are extremely suffering. I don't know what metrics they used to come up with the ranking but as a Kenyan I was a bit shocked and embarrassed to be honest. If you are to come to Nairobi or live there, you could be fooled to think we are ok, with proper public systems and skyscrapers dotting all over the land scape. Coming from here in a middle income household with high income dreams I have to agree I was bit ignorant of the facts so I decided to look further into this.

Here comes the rude truths and poorly executed jokes. There are people in rural Kenya who I have met who have no idea of what money is. They live in secluded parts of the country which have no resources at all to make use of. These guys wake up in the morning greeting their teeth and screaming angrily to the world because of the helpless state. These guys don't have resources to buy breakfast, lunch or supper when they wake up in the morning and the situation is made even worse because they slept hungry last night. They live in places where there are no access to schools, hospitals and government offices. They live in the periphery of the Kenyan dream.

It sucks because most of these guys suffer from these problems because of bad luck. The lottery at birth went wrong for them and they were born in such dire conditions. Their luck never changed and it's been downhill from the beginning. Sadly the struggle doesn't end but goes on from one generation to the next with little hope that the poverty cycle will break.

I don't want to undermine anyone's problems but these guys have serious problems. When I think about the issues that are bothering me as opposed to the lives these guys live I am ashamed to call them problems. I complain about my food having too little salt and there are people who don't have access to food at all. I talk about the frequent blackouts that we have and there are people who don't even have homes to sleep in.

Technology has changed over time, but in the last 50 years there have been rapid changes in technology. I remember the first time one of my grandmas came to visit us and she saw a TV she was dumbfounded. The first question she asked what are those white people doing in the box? She went around the TV set to see if they are hiding behind and it took some time before my dad explained to her what a TV was. Personally I think he did a poor job coz he went like just know its some new technology. I should also mention when she first watch the Muppet show she almost freaked out because she thought it was witchcraft that can make a frog, a pig and the rest of the animals talk.

It was easy for me to make fun of her as I was young and ignorant. Right now I am truly amazed with the leaps and bounds technology has made in the recent past. 15 years ago my friend had a PC, and it was the only one in our estate and it was a Pentium III and had 20GB Hard drive space. We were all in awe at his machine and were excited using programs like word with word art. Now there are phones with 64 GB hard drive space and its 100 times more powerful than that PC I have mentioned. Another example is the internet bandwith that I have access to, I only used to get 256 kb/s download speeds and I was in heaven. I could get my music and movies comfortably. Now I have 4 MB/s, which I know is not too fast as my friends have 10 to 50 MB/s, and my package is already too much for me. When I look at the things people are doing in South Korea and in Japan technology wise I am always astounded. They are like 3 or 4 generations ahead of the rest of the world let alone Africa. Sometimes I amuse myself if I were to take my grandmother there what will happen. Will she die of shock or condemn the new technology as works of the devil.

We are living in a rapidly changing environment as last year's technologies are quickly replaced by this year's. Sometimes the evolution of products take place after a few months. Personally it's hard for me to keep up with the new stuff. I try to keep abreast but sometimes its ridiculous for example types of phones, there is the Samsung galaxy S5 and then a few weeks later Samsung Note 4 and then two weeks later Samsung galaxy Edge and please note there is very little difference between the first phone and the last phone.

Do you keep up with technology?

One of the reasons I love blogging and reading about other blogs is experiencing life through the eyes of another person. Through these perspectives I get to understand or get to know a little about things I had no idea about for example parenting blogs give excellent advice on parenting, cooking blogs on cooking and the list goes on. This way I don't have to be a parent or a cook but I can somehow know how life is for that person in that situation. With all blog categories that are there, DIYs; personal blogs; reviews; etc. the one that I find to be my favourite kind of blogs are travel blogs.

Reading about people's experience of globetrotting makes me supremely envious. I love reading about the single traveller, couple or group of friends who are hitting the road and they talk about their experiences. They talk about the good and the bad of travelling abroad. I love going through their photos of picturesque places, sunsets, mountains and most important of all pictures of people. I fawn over the photos they take of far places and the beauty they see in a place.

I love the stories they tell. I just read a story where a certain blogger didn't have enough money to pay for a good hotel or hostel so she decided to plan her time travelling at night by train this gave her the opportunity to sleep. During the day she spent her time touring her destination. That post made me happy and reminded me that there was a time where I had to sleep in a car because there wasn't any proper accommodation. Although I did want ask her was she cleaning herself …. Maybe the trains had showers? I don't know.

I love such unorthodox blogs where the trip has been planned well in advance and we hope things will go well. But when they reach their destination they are really surprised at the things they have to go through. This ends up being a learning experience for the traveller as well as us readers. There was one post I read about a guy who wanted to visit as many European countries as possible. Everything was going to go well but he didn't account for paying visa fees. In the end it became impossible to go as many countries and his trip was limited to a few countries. Although he did make up for it by spending more time in one country and enjoying it rather than having a quick glimpse of the place.

My favourite travel blogs are the more established one whereby the bloggers are able to pay for their travels from the money they make blogging. They get to work anywhere and travel at the same time. Secondly these guys get paid to review hotels. If that is not heaven I don't know what is. I can't wait for my blog to be big enough so that I can earn proper money to let me travel the world without worrying about expenses.

Do you have any type of blogs that you love?

Funding for higher education is a daunting task especially if you are going to do it abroad like me. Many of the school out there require you to pay excess of $ 40,000 per year and if it's a two year course you are looking at $ 80,000 without including living costs. This can be a real problem especially if you are coming from a third world country where the tuition is a fraction of that cost. This led to many potential students giving up their dreams.

Many people would advise looking for scholarships but that is not the case for most students this is because they are average students, not A students with GPAs of 4.4 or above. I fall under the category of average student. Therein lies the need to look for funding to pay for the tuition. So came Cameron Stevens one of the founders of Prodigy Finance who like us had problems paying for tuition. When he was through with business school he started the company Prodigy finance. It opens opportunities for international students to access student loans without cosigners giving them the opportunity to study abroad.

The best part about the loan is that it issued based on future earning potential rather than their financial history, background or nationality. There is a lot of voodoo involved in how they determine this, I don't understand how they do it that is why I call it voodoo, but they have their own proprietary scorecard that they use to determine who they will give their money to. A little bit about their scorecard- it combines earnings statistics from past graduates with numbers for current and predicted economic circumstances such as geographical differences in pay and the need for particular skill sets, to gauge whether loans are safe,

What are your thoughts on student loans?
